For fans of: Taking Back Sunday, Moose Blood, Boston Manor
Dire Bloom exploded onto the scene in November offering a smooth blend of the Emo and Pop Punk genres. Based in Leeds, the quintet take influences from the likes of Taking Back Sunday, Knuckle Puck and Basement whilst keeping themselves original with a distinct sound of their own.
Their debut EP Facade perfectly showcases what the band have to offer. After being gently eased into the EP, it suddenly breaks into a guitar heavy number that clearly suggests that Dire Bloom are not a band to be overlooked. Stand out tracks ‘Canvas’ and ‘Fletcher’ both hold stunning guitar work and infectious hooks that demand to be listened to.
‘Bliss’ shows off the slightly more mellow side of Dire Bloom, however this is short lived as the track soon kicks back in with the boisterous instrumentals and rough vocals delivered in that unmistakable Pop Punk style. The EP finishes with ‘Wither’, the perfect send off for Facade, leaving the listener waiting for more. Facade is an extremely strong debut EP delivered in an impetuous but controlled manner. This is definitely a band to keep your eyes on throughout 2017. This certainly won’t be the last you hear of them as they have a lot more to offer in the near future.
Facade is being offered as a pay-what-you-want download on Bandcamp and is also available to download and stream on all major digital outlets. Also make sure you catch Dire Bloom supporting Seaway with WSTR and The Gospel Youth in Leeds in January.
